Introduction
Launched in 1958 and produced until the early 1970s, the Patek Philippe ref. 3430 is typically known as a rather conservative square-shaped dress watch that is usually offered on a leather strap. However, the example that we have here breaks from that convention absolute abundance. Powered by the same manual-wind cal. 23-300 movement and retaining the same 26mm x 26mm case size, this example very notably differs to its siblings thanks to its tri-color dial and tri-color hexagonal link bracelet. Featuring a blend of 18kt yellow, rose, and white gold across its dial and in the makeup of its entire bracelet, this wonderfully unusual timepiece showcases an entirely new and unusual side to Patek Philippe, the traditionalist watchmaker who seldom expands beyond their conservative design language, expect for in the rare instance when they want to create something entirely rare and splendid, as they did with this ref. 3430/1.

Condition
Watch is in excellent overall condition. Case shows minor surface wear with some light marks and scratches visible along the original textured finish. Gold hallmark on the 3 o'clock case side is crisp and fully visible. The original tricolor dial is in excellent condition, and exhibits only minor signs of aging. Bracelet has 22 links total, and fits an appox. 6 3/4" wrist. There is minor stretch in the band.
Our Perspective
Entirely different from what we would expect to see from Patek in the late 50s and throughout the 1960s, the tri-color ref. 3430 explores an entirely new design language for Patek thanks to its intriguing blend of metals across its dial and bracelet.
