Introduction
During the 1970s, Patek Philippe explored a particularly distinctive form of dress-watch design, moving beyond the traditional round Calatrava towards watches in which case, dial and bracelet were conceived as a single composition. The ref. 3671 belongs firmly to this period. Its compact square form, exceptionally clean time-only display and integrated precious-metal bracelet place the emphasis on proportion, texture and finish rather than complication, creating a watch that sits somewhere between conventional horology and jewellery design.
This ref. 3671/1 is executed entirely in 18K white gold and measures approximately 26.5mm by 26mm. Its blue soleil-finished Sigma dial provides a striking contrast to the cool white metal, with applied hour markers and slender hands maintaining the minimalist character of the design. The "/1" configuration indicates an integrated 18K white gold mesh bracelet. Inside is Patek Philippe's manually wound calibre 177, an ultra-thin 18-jewel movement whose compact architecture allowed the manufacture to maintain the elegant proportions fundamental to the watch.

THE DIAL
The blue Sigma dial features a rich soleil finish that changes character as it catches the light. Applied white gold hour markers and slender matching hands provide minimal interruption to the surface, giving the watch the clean, highly graphic appearance characteristic of Patek Philippe's precious-metal dress watches of the period.

THE CONSTRUCTION
The approximately 26.5mm x 26mm case is fashioned from 18K white gold and flows directly into an integrated matching mesh bracelet. The contrast between the geometric case and finely textured bracelet is central to the design, while the signed 18K white gold clasp maintains the uninterrupted precious-metal construction.

Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The 18K white gold case is well defined and shows light surface scratches and marks. The Calatrava Cross-embossed winding crown is in excellent condition. The case back shows surface scratches and retains two well-defined hallmarks. The blue Sigma dial is in near-mint condition and the hands remain very clean. The integrated 18K white gold mesh bracelet shows light surface marks and some gentle wear to the Calatrava Cross on the clasp. The bracelet fits approximately a 6½” wrist.
Our Perspective
The ref. 3671/1 captures a particularly interesting side of 1970s Patek Philippe, when integrated bracelets, vivid dials and geometric cases became increasingly important parts of the manufacture's design vocabulary. In white gold, the architecture is especially understated, leaving the blue soleil Sigma dial to provide the colour and the intricate mesh bracelet the texture. The result is a deceptively simple watch whose appeal lies almost entirely in design and execution.
