Introduction
Launched in 1954 and produced until 1960 when it was discontinued, the watch that we have here is no ordinary mid-century dress watch from Patek Philippe. Offered as a more distinctive alternative than the legendary ref. 2526, the ref. 2552 swapped the ref. 2526’s enamel dial for a silvered dial and a rare ‘Disco Volante’ or “flying disc” case shape, distinguished by its unique profile, the ref. 2552 has become a highly desirable rarity amongst Patek Philippe aficionados. With around 650 examples produced across all cases metals, the ref. 2552 is a rare bird, and with this example being co-signed by Patek’s most desirable retailed, Tiffany & Co., this example is all the more special. Made of 18kt yellow gold and powered by the automatic cal. 12-600 AT movement, this 36mm timepiece is a wonderfully modern dress watch in its execution with a stepped bezel and sleek profile on the wrist making it an appealing offering in keeping with today’s sizing and styling standards.

THE DIAL
A rare watch already, the ref. 2552 is tremendously sought-after, with only around 650 examples thought to have been produced, so this example with its Tiffany & Co. co-signature at 12 o'clock is all the more special.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Featuring a rare "disco volante" case construction, the ref. 2552 boasts a circular case with a dramatically stepped bezel, giving the entire watch a unique, sloped profile.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The yellow gold case shows surface scratches and small nicks as expected of a watch of this vintage. The case back has one more noticeable scratch along with light surface scratches. The rear of the lower right lug bears a retailer stock number, while two hallmarks remain legible on the case sides. The dial shows minor surface marks and retains a strong signature and Tiffany & Co stamp. The crystal has a number of scratches. It is fitted with a black Patek alligator strap and yellow gold buckle, both in excellent condition. Please note that the watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Our Perspective
Incredibly rare, stylistically distinct, and co-signed by their most desirable retailer, Tiffany & Co., this ref. 2552 is an incredible piece of mid-century Patek Philippe heritage.
