Introduction
Following on from the discontinuation of the ref. 5015 in 1999, Patek Philippe launched the ref. 5054 as a new version of their officer-style watch. Featuring all of the textbook indiactors of an officer’s watch, the ref. 5054R boasts an incredible 36mm 18kt rose gold case construction with its signature sapphire crystal exhibition hinged-caseback and the iconic scrolled lugs with a matching 18kt rose gold buckle. Furthermore, its white dial boasts black painted Roman numerals, a black oxidised gold spade handset, and a railway-style minute track found along its periphery. With a running sub-seconds dial at 4 o'clock, a moon phase aperture and pointer date function at 7 o'clock and a semi-circular 48-hour power reserve indicator at 10 o'clock, the 5054R's asymmetrical dial layout is immediately reminiscent of the Nautilus ref. 5712 and all of its sibling references. Featuring an entirely polished case and measuring 36mm in diameter, the ref. 5054R is the perfect timepiece to wear as a dress watch but with the added personality of its unique case design and interesting dial.

Our Perspective
Still a rich part of Patek's offering, the ref. 5054R was discontinued in 2005 but looks like it could have come fro the middle of the century with its heritage-inspired looks and aesthetics.
