Introduction

Introduced in 1968, Patek Philippe's Golden Ellipse became one of the manufacture's defining designs, its distinctive elliptical form conceived around the harmonious proportions of the golden ratio. Over the years, the Ellipse aesthetic extended beyond wristwatches into a small range of accessories, allowing Patek Philippe's unmistakable design language to be expressed in objects intended for everyday use.

Dating to circa 1985, this reference 9602J keychain translates the Golden Ellipse into a particularly charming accessory. Crafted from solid 18k yellow gold, its 47mm by 32mm body incorporates a rich blue gold centre produced using the same distinctive technique associated with the celebrated blue dials of Golden Ellipse watches. The combination of warm yellow gold and intense blue immediately recalls one of Patek Philippe's most recognisable colour pairings.

Our Perspective

There is something particularly appealing about accessories produced by great watchmakers, especially when they so clearly reflect the design language of an iconic watch. The reference 9602J is unmistakably Patek Philippe, distilling the Golden Ellipse into a beautifully made 18k yellow gold object with its characteristic blue gold centre. For the committed Patek Philippe collector, it is exactly the sort of unusual period accessory that adds another dimension to a collection.
