Introduction
Launched in 1968, Patek Philippe's Golden Ellipse collection marked a significant shift for Patek as they embraced the constantly changing world that was the 1960's. With the dawn quartz technology on its way, Patek sought a watch that was both unisex in its design and also immediately 'Patek' in its aesthetic. With that design brief, Patek debuted the Golden Ellipse to immediate success as a result of its novel and forward-thinking design and luxurious construction. Made from 18k gold, the Ellipse celebrated classical watchmaking's techniques while also retaining a forward-thinking design in the form of its thin elegant cases, understated dials and elegant unisex proportions. Following the success of the first Ellipse, the ref. 3548, Patek followed with several other variants that proved to be just as successful, leading to the collection remaining within Patek's catalog to this day. As such, one of those references was the Golden Ellipse that we see here, the Golden Ellipse ref. 4830G, a feminine reference offered on a leather strap with integrated articulating lugs. Featuring a 23mm-wide case made of 18kt white gold, the ref. 4830G wears on the wrist with an elegant stance that is slightly shorter than other Ellipse references, and thus easier to wear. In combination with its monochromatic white dial that features black painted Roman numerals this example is also offered in exceptional condition throughout, making it a delight on wrist.

THE DIAL
Boasting a minimalist white dial with just black Roman numerals, Patek's branding, and black hands, the ref. 4830G's display is purposefully understated and elegant.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Retaining the Golden Ellipse's rounded rectangular profile with the inclusion of its interlinked lug design, the ref. 4830G makes no mistake about which collection of Patek's it hails from.

THE LUGS
Fit with articulating lugs that wrap around the wrist, the ref. 4830G is a wonderfully unique offering that serves as a halfway house between the Golden Ellipse's integrated bracelet designs and leather strap designs.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The white gold case shows light surface scratches and marks, while the case back displays light surface scratches with well-defined hallmarks and light wear visible to the screw heads. The hinged lug/bracelet sections remain excellent, with light surface scratches and a few small nicks present. The dial and hands remain near mint. It is fitted with a Patek alligator strap and a white gold pin buckle, both remaining in excellent condition.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
Intelligently designed and elegantly executed, the ref. 4830G is a stylish watch that showcases the strength of Patek's design team as they went out of their way to create a unique timepiece for women, which is something brands unfortunately don't often do.
