Introduction
Launched in 1968, the Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse collection marked a significant shift for Patek as they embraced the constantly changing world that was the 1960's. With the dawn quartz technology on its way, Patek sought a watch that was both unisex in its design and also immediately 'Patek' in its aesthetic. With that design brief, Patek debuted the Golden Ellipse to immediate success as a result of its novel and forward-thinking design and luxurious construction. Made from platinum and powered by a manual-wind movement, the Ellipse that we have here celebrates classical watchmaking's techniques while also retaining a forward-thinking design in the form of its thin oval-shaped case, understated blue dial, lug-less design, and elegant jumbo sized case. The 5738P is the most recent in a long line of Golden Ellipse watches that retain the same classic looks, but with a more contemporary size.

THE DIAL
Boasting an intensely elegant blue dial with applied indices and no markings other than Patek's branding, this Ellipse is a truly understated timepiece that allows its craftsmanship do the talking.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Thanks to its oval shape and lack of traditional lugs, the Ellipse wears comfortably as its strap articulates from behind the case and wraps nicely around the wrist.

Condition
Watch is in very good overall condition. Watch exhibits signs of frequent wear, including scratches and marks along the bezel, mid-case and caseback. Hallmarks on the 6 and 12 o'clock sides of the case are sharp and crisp. Dial is near-mint and does not show any marks or scratches. Watch comes with original Patek buckle in PT.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
