Introduction
Introduced in 2007, the Patek Philippe Gondolo ref. 5098R is a modern interpretation of one of the manufacture's elegant Art Deco wristwatches from the 1920s. Named after the celebrated Chronometro Gondolo watches supplied to the prestigious Brazilian retailer Gondolo & Labouriau, the collection pays tribute to a significant chapter in Patek Philippe's history while embracing the distinctive geometric styling of the Art Deco era.
Faithful to its inspiration, the ref. 5098R features a beautifully curved 18K rose gold tonneau case, an exquisitely hand-guillochéd dial and a movement developed specifically for its unique case shape. Produced in relatively small numbers, it remains one of the most refined and overlooked modern dress watches in the Patek Philippe catalogue.

THE DIAL
The cambered silver-plated dial features two hand-guillochéd sections produced using a rare traditional engine-turning technique. Framed by a brown gilt hour ring with painted Breguet numerals, it faithfully echoes the design of the original Chronometro Gondolo, while brown-coloured gold pear-shaped hands complete its elegant Art Deco aesthetic.
THE MOVEMENT
Designed specifically for the Gondolo collection, the manually wound calibre 25-21 REC AIG 2 is shaped to complement the tonneau case and finished to the exacting standards expected of Patek Philippe. Visible through the sapphire case back, it showcases beautifully executed Geneva stripes, polished bevels and refined traditional architecture.

Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The 18K rose gold case shows surface scratches and small marks. The display case back retains well-defined stamps and hallmarks, with minor wear to the screw heads. The dial and hands are like new. It is fitted with a blue leather strap and an 18K rose gold pin buckle showing light surface scuffs. Comes with the inner and outer box set. Original papers are not included.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
