Introduction
Released in 1970, two years after the introduction of the Ellipse collection to Patek's roster, the ref. 3589 featured a larger and more prominent case design that coincided with the evolution of style occurring at the time as watches slowly began to grow out of the dainty cases they had been kept within. Offered in multiple dial colors, materials and configurations, the ref. 3589 was, and still is, a naturally varied timepiece that speaks to just as wide a diaspora of collectors today as it did back in the day. Offered with a blue sunburst dial, the ref. 3589 that we have here features beautiful gold hands and sunken hour markers, making it an immediately legible and beautiful display. Fitted with one of the thinnest automatic movements in the world at the time, the ref. 3589 features the cal. 28-255 - a LeCoultre based movement that enables it to retain a thin and easily wearable profile to compound upon its classy aesthetic and operate as a splendid dress watch today, just as it did in the 1970s. Featuring an intricate 18kt yellow gold bracelet to match its hefty 18kt yellow gold case, this example speaks to the luxury that Patek's collectors have come to expect over the last number of decades, if not centuries.

THE DIAL
Boasting a vibrant blue dial with an elegant sunburst finish and 18kt yellow gold hands to match the golden engraved hour markers, this Grand Ellipse's aesthetic is certainly that of grand luxury.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Made of 18kt yellow gold and featuring an intricate 18kt yellow gold bracelet, the ref. 3589 is inherently a luxurious timepiece, but known as the larger of the Ellipse models, it also packs a heavy wrist presence too.

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in excellent overall condition. Minor signs of wear along the case as seen in the images. Hallmark on caseback is still crisp and visible. The blue dial is in near-mint condition showing little to no signs of wear. Woven bracelet is in near-mint condition and fits an approx. 7.5" wrist.
Our Perspective
Offered with its beautiful blue dial, slightly larger case than before, intricate 18kt yellow bracelet and incredibly thin automatic movement, this ref. 3589 is a gorgeous reminder of how classical watchmaking has made an effort to modernize itself. With the collection's longevity so far, it's hard to think Patek weren't successful in their pursuit, and thankfully so.
