Introduction
Famed for their intensely luxurious eye for detail and unparalleled heritage within the watchmaking industry, Patek Philippe has long been at the top of the horology pyramid. While their modern plaudits come from their infamously desirable wristwatches, the brand began life creating pocket watches, much like other watchmakers that began life during the 19th century and before. As such, it is pocket watches, like the example we have here draws attention to Patek Philippe’s original legendary aesthetic and unwavering level of craftsmanship. Featuring an 18kt yellow gold construction, a stunning white enamel dial with black painted Breguet numerals alongside beautiful blued steel spade hands, crisp black inscriptions and a sunken sub-seconds dial with another embellishment of black for its chapter ring, this example’s display is a classily executed embodiment of style and decorum. Featuring a fully polished 50mm construction, this example’s hunter case features dust cover as well as a traditional caseback along with a single cover for its dial. This dial cover also features the piece’s most stunning detail, a blue and red enamel-filled engraved monogram that serves to highlight Patek’s incredible reputation as one of horology’s best watchmakers – a reputation that they have earned over the centuries, and a reputation that they will not lose any time soon judging by their constantly improving product line and back-log of truly iconic designs.

Our Perspective
This massive, 50 mm beautifully preserved, hunting case Patek Philippe repeater is the kind of watch you can keep in your family for generations. Many older collectors we know recall the days of their youth listening to their grandfather’s minute repeaters. It’s an audible experience that becomes indelible in one’s mind. And this experience continues to this day as the present generation is being introduced to these antique marvels. Few hunter case Patek Philippe repeaters were made in the early 20th century due to their cost and the fashion of the times that leaned towards open face watches. This watch is a perfect presentation of the art of case making, dial making and of course the movement. For the collector looking to add a repeater to a collection, this watch is for you. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archive confirming the engraved monogram was done by Patek Philippe ‘enameled in blue and red’. The name is lost to history but ‘R del G’ or ‘G del R’ had exquisite and refined taste in watches, just like the new owner.
