Introduction
Perhaps the most iconic dress watch collection ever, the Patek Philippe Calatrava embodies the very essence of what a classically-styled timepiece should look like. Creating the entire dress watch niche in 1932 when it was released, the Calatrava has become a mainstay within Patek Philippe’s offerings and perhaps their most emblematic collection. Launched in 2016, the ref. 7122G that we have here is an 18kt white gold timepiece that combines the Calatrava’s vintage sensibilities with modern watchmaking. Measuring a svelte 33mm in diameter, the ref. 7122G's 18kt white gold case is a wonderfully executed reminder of Patek Philippe's craftsmanship with a diamond-set bezel that seems as though it floats underneath the lugs as they extend right up to the sapphire crystal and lack the diamonds that adorn the ref. 7122G’s bezel. Boasting a bright white dial that features interesting hobnail applied indices that appear like diamonds from afar, elegant feuille hands and a subtle subdial at 6 o'clock, the ref. 7122G’s display combines beautiful elegance with thoughtful design. Featuring a sapphire crystal caseback to showcase its well-finished manual-wind cal. 215PS, the ref. 7122G is as stunning from the rear as it is the front.

THE DIAL
Sporting a bright white dial with a clean and sophisticated aesthetic, ref. 7122G immediately showcases Patek's careful design process with its hobnail indices that give the appearance of diamonds.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Adding an interesting aesthetic to the Calatrava's typically reserved design language, the ref. 7122G's floating diamond-set bezel and overlaid lugs give timepiece a sportier look.
