Introduction
Released in the late 1990s and produced through the 2000s, the ref. 5055 is a rare and unusual member of the Calatrava collection which Patek Philippe launched in 1932 as they revolutionised the dress watch segment of the watch industry. Featuring an incredibly wearable 37mm 18kt case construction with a flat polished bezel and matching flat lugs, the ref. 5055 is a casual and understated example of Patek Philippe’s craftsmanship. Betraying the visual simplicity of its case, the ref. 5055 boasts a black dial that is filled with functions thanks to its automatic cal. 240 PS-IRM movement. Sporting an asymmetrical layout with a running sub-seconds dial at 4 o'clock, a moon phase and pointer date subdial at 7 o'clock and a semi-circular 48-hour power reserve indicator at 10 o'clock, the 5055G's dial layout is immediately reminiscent of the modern Nautilus ref. 5712. A casual and functional take on a dress watch, the ref. 5055 speaks to a time when Patek went above and beyond with the Calatrava to ensure that it could be a one watch collection capable of tackling everyday life.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall very good condition. The white gold case shows scratches across the surface along with some more noticeable nicks and dings. There is an abrasion to the rear of the upper right lug. All stamps and hallmarks remain well defined. The dial and hands are near mint. It is fitted with a new Delugs crocodile strap and a steel pin buckle, and is accompanied by the original Patek Philippe white gold deployant clasp. Comes complete with inner and outer boxes, Certificate of Origin, booklet and document holder.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
Combining functionality with a casual essence, the ref. 5055 is an unusual member of ther Calatrava family that we seldom see these days.
