Introduction
Launched in 2018, as the most complicated Nautilus reference to date, the Nautilus Perpetual Calendar ref. 5740G represents the absolute peak of the Nautilus’ watchmaking guile. Bringing the Nautilus into the world of true Haute horology as the collection’s first grand complication, the ref. 5740G perfectly represents the Nautilus’ evolution through time from its humble beginnings as a time and date-only sports watch into a true horological heavyweight. Boasting a 40mm diameter, the ref. 5740’s 18kt white gold case completely retains the Nautilus’ iconic design throughout, especially with regards to its thin profile coming in at just 8.4mm. As a perpetual calendar, it serves as no surprise that the ref. 5740 features a rather unique dial layout for a Nautilus, with a trio of subdials for its calendar functions at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock providing a clear contrast when compared to other Nautilus models. In addition to its layout, the ref. 5740 also boasts a rather bright shade of blue, unlike the darker shades typically used in the Nautilus collection – further highlighting its special place amongst its sibling variants as one of the most exclusive Nautilus models ever released to the market.
