Introduction
A legendary watch that requires no introduction, the Patek Philippe Nautilus has managed to become one of the most iconic timepieces of all time thanks to its stunning design, extreme demand, impeccable craftsmanship, and rich heritage. With its distinctive asymmetrical dial, and interesting array of useful complications, the ref. 5712A was appreciated the moment it was released to celebrate the Nautilus’ 30th anniversary in 2006. Today favored as the most unique of all Nautilus variants, the ref. 5712’s blue-black dial is what lends to its extreme popularity, with its design a direct contrast to the Nautilus’ otherwise symmetrical porthole-inspired design. A break from Patek’s conservatism, the ref. 5712 is a fantastic piece that collectors have rightfully flocked to.

THE DIAL
Featuring the Nautilus' typical dial DNA, the ref. 5712 sports a blue to black gradient alongside horizontal embossing that combine to create a familiar aesthetic. However, with its off-center pointer date and moonphase indicator, power reserve indicator, and running seconds subdial, it is a wonderfully unique dial indeed.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Perfectly familiar to any watch collector, the ref. 5712 sports the same legendary porthole-inspired case and iconic integrated bracelet as practically every Nautilus variant that has come before it.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

Condition
Watch is in overall near-mint condition, showing only the lightest signs of wear. There are some surface marks on the polished center links of the bracelet, as well as minor wear on some of the brushed surfaces. Bracelet was sized for the original owner but the removed links are included on the side. The band exhibits little to no stretch.
Our Perspective
A uniquely styled version of one of watchmaking's biggest names, the ref. 5712 brings and air of individuality to the Nautilus' aesthetic that other variants fail to emulate, and so its individuality is deserving of serious praise, which it rightfully earns.
