Introduction
Hailing from an extended family of perpetual calendar chronographs, the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph ref. 5970 is a timepiece that embodies the famed watchmaker’s traditional approach to Haute Horlogerie. Launched in 2004 and beginning production in 2005 and produced for a short six years until 2011, the ref. 5970 was offered as part of Patek’s long and storied past of producing perpetual calendar chronographs. Powered by one of the most stunning column wheel chronograph movements ever made, the ref. 5790 displays behind its exhibition caseback the beautiful Lemania cal. CH 27-70Q movement. Produced exclusively for Patek Philippe, this labyrinthine movement combines a perpetual calendar within its chronograph subdials in keeping with the iconic design language of its predecessor, the ref. 1518. Featuring a leap-year indicator, a pointer date, a 24-hour indicator, and a moon phase all within its three subdials and the day and month within two apertures at 12 o’clock, the ref. 5970’s silver dial is as well-balanced and symmetrical as possible. Found within a modern 40mm 18kt white gold case, the ref. 5970 is modern in its execution. Made of 18kt white gold, the ref. 5970G that we have here was only offered for a short two year period until 2007, which is when it was then removed from the catalog.

THE DIAL
With its silver on white color scheme, the ref. 5970's display combines with its construction's color palette to create a decidedly monotone aesthetic, with its blued hands and indices breaking from that design language in a subtle but impactful manner.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Boasting a rather modern profile, the ref. 5970G features a hefty 40mm diameter case that stands 13.5mm tall with long lugs, meaning it wears more in line with modern sizing standards than other perpetual calendar chronograph models.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in near-mint overall condition. Case exhibits light signs of wear, with some hairlines and small marks visible on some of the surfaces. Hallmarks are crisp and fully visible on the rear of the lugs. Dial in pristine condition, blackened hands show light signs of oxidation- a common trait of blackened hands from Patek Philippe. Watch comes on an original Patek alligator strap in like new condition, and an original 18k deployant buckle. The buckle shows minor surface wear.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
Offered as the apex of Patek Philippe's horological efforts, the ref. 5970G has everything a Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph aficiando will appreciate.
