Introduction

While they might have a deep-rooted history in watchmaking Patek Philippe’s first-ever Régulateur timepiece was indeed the ref. 5235G. Released in 2012, the Patek Philippe Complications Annual Calendar Regulator ref. 5235G featured a stunningly legible and beautifully symmetrical Regulator layout, as its name suggests. With a classy design and connections to watchmaking's roots, the ref. 5235G was, indeed, a home run. Then, 7 years later in 2019, Patek decided to expand the ref. 5235 family with the ref. 5235R that we have here. Made of 18kt rose gold it features a two-tone graphite and black dial with a central minutes hand, a subdial at 12 o'clock to display the hours and a subdial at 6 o'clock to display the seconds. Furthermore, it boasts an annual calendar complication which displays the day, month and date at 10, 2 and 6 o'clock, respectively. Featuring an almost-entirely polished construction, it boasts a flat bezel with a small step out to its brushed mid-case and sharp faceted lugs that provide a close wearing experience, as the watch wears flat to wrist. Powered by the automatic cal. 31‑260 REG QA, the ref. 5235R displays some wonderful watchmaking craftsmanship behind its exhibition caseback across its numerous surfaces, bridges, gears and micro-rotor.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
TIMING MACHINE READOUT

Featuring a silicon escapement, the watch does not give a reading on the timing machine we use. It appears to be running fine and keeping good time.

Condition

Watch is in overall like-new condition. The case shows only light signs of wear or handling and retains a service sticker on the case back. Comes complete with inner and outer boxes, certificate of origin, booklets, document holder, hangtag, and setting tool. At the request of the previous owner, the watch was sent back to Patek Philippe to be regulated for accuracy, hence the service sticker on the caseback. Original papers have been digitally redacted, the date of purchase was December 2022.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.

Our Perspective

Expanding upon Patek's horological footprint as their first-ever regulator reference, the ref. 5235 is a beautifully executed timepiece that is as stunning as one would expect from Patek with its two-tone graphite and black dial and warm 18kt rose gold case.
