Introduction
Long before its wristwatches became some of the most coveted timepieces in the world, Patek Philippe had established its reputation through the manufacture of exceptional pocket watches. Founded in Geneva in 1839, the company developed a tradition of combining mechanical excellence with elegant design, producing watches that reflected the highest standards of Swiss craftsmanship. By the early twentieth century, pocket watch design was undergoing a subtle transformation, as the elaborate decorative styles of previous decades began to give way to cleaner lines and more geometric arrangements. Among the most attractive expressions of this changing aesthetic were sector dials, with their concentric divisions, contrasting finishes and carefully balanced hour markers. These distinctive designs would subsequently influence some of the most celebrated wristwatches of the 1930s and beyond.
Dating to approximately the 1920s, this Patek Philippe pocket watch combines a beautifully composed sector dial with an intriguing element of personalisation. Its 46mm case is crafted from 18K yellow gold, providing a warm contrast to the silver dial, which features applied gold Arabic numerals at twelve, three and nine o'clock, oversized feuille hands and a subsidiary seconds register at six. The geometric arrangement of the dial is an elegant expression of the emerging modernist aesthetic, while the manually wound movement within reflects Patek Philippe's established tradition of mechanical craftsmanship. Turning the watch over reveals a particularly striking detail: the initials FFF, fashioned in white metal and set with baguette-cut diamonds, prominently displayed across the yellow gold case back.

THE DIAL
The dial features an elegant sector design, combining geometric divisions with applied gold Arabic numerals at twelve, three and nine o'clock. Oversized feuille hands introduce a classical flourish, while the subsidiary seconds register at six provides balance and symmetry.

THE CONSTRUCTION
The 46mm case is crafted from 18K yellow gold, providing an elegant setting for the silver sector dial. Its traditional round form, polished surfaces and restrained proportions reflect the classical pocket watch designs of the period.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
The watch is in overall excellent condition. The yellow gold case shows light marks and scratches consistent with a watch of this vintage. Fully legible hallmarks remain on the winding stem and chain ring. The dial has some light surface marks and spotting, while the hands are very clean. Caseback has been set with baguette diamonds with the initials “FFF”. Please note that the diamonds were likely set by the jeweler, and they go thru the caseback as seen in the images. Because of this, it is not guaranteed that an Extract of the Archives can be issued. Please bid accordingly.
Our Perspective
Sector-dial Patek Philippe pocket watches are particularly appealing for their elegant geometry and historical significance. This example adds an intriguing personal dimension, with baguette diamond-set initials transforming the gold case back into a distinctive piece of jewellery craftsmanship.
