Introduction
Famed for their uncanny ability to create some of the most beautifully constructed watches on the market, Patek Philippe has long championed the Haute Joaillerie space within the watchmaking industry. In that vein, the ref. 3626/1 that we have here is a shining example of Patek Philippe’s craftsmanship and attention to detail. Made of 18k white gold, it features an intricately woven 18k white gold bracelet and a diamond-set bezel featuring 56 baguette-cut diamonds weighing approximately 6.42 carats that combine to create a stunningly luxurious construction. However, perhaps the star of this ref. 3626/1 is its diamond-set semi-precious Lapis Lazuli dial bearing a notable and rare “Khanjar” dagger at its 6 o'clock. Made on special request for the Sultan of Oman, this watch would have been presented as a gift to a close friend, ally, foreign diplomat, or servant and today is sought after for just how rare these Khanjar dial watches are, and their links to the state of Oman and ruler.

THE CONSTRUCTION

Condition
Incredibly luxurious, this example is extremely rare at the same time. The lapis dial is intact and is further enhanced with baguette diamond indexes and stamped with the Khanjar at 6 o'clock. The case is very crisp with strong hallmarks. There is some oxidation marks to the case back. The bracelet is in excellent condition and lies nice and flat, which measures 7 3/4 inches.
Our Perspective
With a visually effervescent design buoyed by its diamond-set bezel and Khanjar dagger-bearing dial, this ref. 3626/1 is a spectacular watch that celebrates the very best that watchmaking has to offer. We are proud to be able to bring to you the only example known in this configuration, with a lapis dial wih the Khanjar logo and baguette indexes as noted on the Extract of the Archives.
