Introduction
Founded in 1874 by a young 19-year-old in the village of La Côte-aux-Fées, Piaget was originally nothing but a means for Georges Piaget to earn some extra money as he worked on movements and watches during the winter. After decades of producing watches for other brands, it was not until 1943 that the watchmaker would begin to sign their own watches and develop as the famed watchmaker that they are today. From then on, Piaget began to experiment with ultra-thin watches and push both horological and design boundaries, which eventually led to the brand expanding into jewelry in 1959, perhaps the brand’s best-known avenue today. With their impeccable craftsmanship, audacious style, and dedication to the spectacular, Piaget’s timepieces and jewelry began to coalesce, resulting in timepieces much like the Altiplano ref. 81545 K515 that we have here. Boasting a diamond-set 18kt white gold rectangular case measuring 25mm wide and 28mm tall with a lug-free design and an interesting vertical tapestry pattern down its entire front that flows through its diamond-set dial and onto the center links of its integrated 18kt white gold bracelet, the Altiplano is an iconic piece of Piaget design.

THE DIAL
Boasting a diamond-set dial with the same design as is found on its integrated bracelet, the ref. 81545's design is entirely cohesive.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Diamond-set in its entirety and boasting a uniquely-linked integrated bracelet, the ref. 81545's 18kt white gold construction is rich with unusual design details that give it a unique wrist presence.

THE PROFILE
Thanks to its quartz movement, the ref. 81545 features a flat profile that sits low on the wrist.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The exposed white gold case shows surface scratches and small nicks, while the case back retains well-defined engravings and hallmarks with some scratches, particularly around the screw holes. All diamonds and settings remain excellent. The dial and hands are very clean, while the crystal retains the PIAGET signature with a few light marks. Comes complete with inner and outer boxes (with some wear to the inner box), warranty, booklet, and display box. The bracelet has 19 links and fits approx. a 6 3/4" wrist.
Our Perspective
An exhibition in Piaget's prowess as a designer and jeweller, the Altiplano we have here legitimizes Piaget's horological talents thanks to its unique construction and impressive poise on the wrist.
