Introduction
Founded in 1874 by a young 19-year-old in the village of La Côte-aux-Fées, Piaget was originally nothing but a means for Georges Piaget to earn some extra money as he worked on movements and watches during the winter. After decades of producing watches for other brands, it was not until 1943 that the watchmaker would begin to sign their own watches and develop as the famed watchmaker that they are today. From then on, Piaget began to experiment with ultra-thin watches and push both horological and design boundaries, which eventually led to the brand expanding into jewelry in 1959, perhaps the brand’s best-known avenue today. With their impeccable craftsmanship, audacious style, and dedication to the spectacular, Piaget’s timepieces and jewelry began to coalesce, resulting in timepieces much like the ref. 9633 that we have here. Sporting a 31.5mm diameter and hosting an incredibly intricate 18k yellow gold construction with a unique texture throughout, this timepiece is a wonderful synthesis of Piaget’s distinctive exclusivity and rich horological aesthetic. Featuring an 18kt yellow gold mesh bracelet attached to its circular case, this timepiece is extravagance at its very finest. Boasting the coat of arms of the State of Qatar which was introduced six years after the end of the British protectorate, when the country gained its independence under Sheikh Ahmad bin Ali Al Thani atop its jet black onyx stone dial, this timepiece is a further continuation of Piaget’s distinctive jeweler’s touch with its impeccable craftsmanship and overall beauty.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
The watch is in overall excellent condition. The yellow gold case is very well defined, with some light wear to the textured finish on the outer edge of the bezel. The case back has very crisp engravings and a hallmark, with some light wear to the screw heads. The onyx dial is near mint, with no cracks or fissures, crisp text, and a clear Qatar logo. The yellow gold bracelet retains a well-defined finish, with light surface marks and small patches of tarnishing near the Piaget-signed clasp. The bracelet fits an approximately 7 1/2” wrist. Please note that the watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Our Perspective
Combining an impressive command over jewellery-making and watchmaking, along with the rarity that comes along with have a special order dial that was only available to the Royal Family of a state like Qatar, this timepiece is wonderful reminder of Piaget's luxury and craftmanship.
