Introduction
Founded in 1874 by a young 19-year-old in the village of La Côte-aux-Fées, Piaget was originally nothing but a means for Georges Piaget to earn some extra money as he worked on movements and watches during the winter. After decades of producing watches for other brands, it was not until 1943 that the watchmaker would begin to sign their own watches and develop as the famed watchmaker that they are today. From then on, Piaget began to experiment with ultra-thin watches and push both horological and design boundaries, which eventually led to the brand expanding into jewelry in 1959, perhaps the brand’s best-known avenue today. With their impeccable craftsmanship, audacious style, and dedication to the spectacular, Piaget’s timepieces and jewelry began to coalesce, resulting in timepieces much like the Clous de Paris ref. 9151 that we have here, which became a signature offering from within Piaget’s catalog. Boasting an 18kt yellow gold rectangular case measuring 25mm wide and 28mm tall with a lug-free design and an interesting cloud de paris engraving across its entire front, the ref. 9151 is an iconic piece of Piaget design. However, while the ref. 9151’s case is unique; this example’s brown Tiger’s Eye stone dial is what truly sets it apart. A stunning result of Piaget’s incredible work with stone dials, this timepiece likely resulted from Piaget’s Style Selector program where clients could pick from a variety of dials, bracelet options, case finishes, materials, and more for their watch. These stone dial Piaget offerings have become increasingly sought-after, and this brown Tiger’s Eye stone dial ref. 9151 is a perfect reminder of why collectors have flocked to them in recent times.

THE DIAL
A solid piece of brown Tiger's Eye stone with golden painted Roman numerals, this ref. 9151's dial is a stunning reminder of Piaget's Style Selector program, whereby collectors could personalize their watches with different dials, strap options, and much more.

THE CONSTRUCTION
While its 28mm long case might seem small, the ref. 9151's lug-free design means that its case wears larger than one would expect, with its big dial filling as much space as possible.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
The watch is in overall very good condition. The yellow gold clous de Paris case is sharp and well defined, with some gentle wear visible on the outer edges. The case back retains its vertical brushed finish with very crisp stamps and hallmarks, and has some light surface scratches. The tiger eye stone dial has a crack in the bottom left corner, though the printing remains intact in most areas. The watch is fitted with a brown lizard strap with Piaget yellow gold pin buckle in excellent condition. Comes with original Piaget box.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
A great reminder of how their Style Selector program enabled them to create beautiful timepieces that have stood the test of time, this Protocole ref. 9154 showcases how elegant design and incredible craftsmanship can combine to create a beautiful watch that is truly timeless.
