Introduction
Founded in 1874 by a young 19-year-old in the village of La Côte-aux-Fées, Piaget was originally nothing but a means for Georges Piaget to earn some extra money as he worked on movements and watches during the winter. After decades of producing watches for other brands, it was not until 1943 that the watchmaker would begin to sign their own watches and develop as the famed watchmaker that they are today. From then on, Piaget began to experiment with ultra-thin watches and push both horological and design boundaries, which eventually led to the brand expanding into jewelry in 1959, perhaps the brand’s best-known avenue today. With their impeccable craftsmanship, audacious style, and dedication to the spectacular, Piaget’s timepieces and jewelry began to coalesce, resulting in timepieces much like the Gouverneur ref. 90968 that we have here. Featuring an 18kt yellow gold 33mm case with a stepped bezel and a perfectly round profile, the Gouverneur embodies everything that has made Piaget’s timepieces so timeless, a thoughtful design and a well-crafted construction. Ultra-thin, thanks to its manual-wind cal. 9P2 that stands only 2.15mm tall, the Gouverneur builds upon Piaget’s impressive pedigree as a brand known for their thin timepieces. With a white dial featuring a pinstripe central pattern and a flat chapter ring where it houses its Roman numerals, the Gouverneur is a legibly laid-out watch that embodies Piaget’s elegance and radiates their refined aesthetic in abundance.

THE DIAL
Boasting a white dial with painted black Roman numerals atop a flat chapter ring, and a subtle vertical pinstripe finish throughout its center, the ref. 90968's dial is elegance at its very best.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Intensely elegant like its dial, the Gouverneur's 33mm yellow gold case features a stepped bezel that is directly inspired by the mid-century dress timepieces that inspired it.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The yellow gold case shows light superficial scratches to the stepped case and lugs, with a more noticeable scratch visible on the non-crown side of the case, while the case back retains very crisp stamps and hallmarks. The dial and hands remain near mint. It is fitted with a black alligator Hirsch strap and a yellow gold Piaget buckle, both remaining in excellent condition. Comes complete with inner and outer boxes and hangtag.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
With classical watchmaking baked into every piece of its design, the Gouverneur celebrates everything that made mid-century watchmaking so great.
