Introduction
Founded in 1874 by a young 19-year-old in the village of La Côte-aux-Fées, Piaget was originally nothing but a means for Georges Piaget to earn some extra money as he worked on movements and watches during the winter. After decades of producing watches for other brands, it was not until 1943 that the watchmaker would begin to sign their own watches and develop as the famed watchmaker that they are today. From then on, Piaget began to experiment with ultra-thin watches and push both horological and design boundaries, which eventually led to the brand expanding into jewelry in 1959, perhaps the brand’s best-known avenue today. With their impeccable craftsmanship, audacious style, and dedication to the spectacular, Piaget’s timepieces and jewelry began to coalesce, resulting in timepieces much like the Protocole ref. 9152 that we have here, which became a signature offering from within Piaget’s catalog. Boasting an 18kt yellow gold rectangular case measuring 24mm wide and 29mm tall with a lug-free design and an interesting clous de Paris-type pattern engraved across its entire case, the Protocole is an iconic piece of Piaget design. However, while the ref. 9152’s case is unique; this example’s champagne dial is just as unique, with a case-matching guilloche pattern engraved across its entire surface. A stunning result of Piaget’s incredible craftsmanship, this timepiece likely resulted from Piaget’s Style Selector program where clients could pick from a variety of dials, bracelet options, case finishes, materials, and more for their watch.

THE DIAL
Creating an aesthetic of total cohesion, this ref. 9152's champagne-colored Roman numeral display features the same engraved pattern that can be found on every corner of its 18kt yellow gold case (with the exception of its caseback) .

THE CONSTRUCTION
While its 29mm-long case might seem small, the Protocole's lug-free design means that its case wears larger than one would expect, with its big dial filling as much space as possible.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The yellow gold case retains very well-defined hobnail detailing, with gentle wear to the edges in places. The case back shows light surface scratches while the engravings and hallmark remain crisp and well defined. The cabochon-topped crown remains excellent. The textured dial shows some light discoloration along the upper edge, while the printing is clean and well preserved, and the hands are very clean. It is fitted with a crocodile strap and a yellow gold P-signed buckle showing light surface scratches, both remaining in excellent condition.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
A great reminder of how their Style Selector program enabled them to create beautiful timepieces that have stood the test of time, this Protocole ref. 9152 showcases how elegant design and incredible craftsmanship can combine to create a beautiful watch that is truly timeless.
