Inspired by, and based upon, the original Rolex Military Submariner ref. 5513 or ‘Milsub’ as it is known, the Project X Designs team have taken an entirely modern Rolex Submariner ref. 114060LN and modified it to look like the ‘Milsub’ that was famously used by the British Ministry of Defence during the 1970s. Based upon the historical design, the Project X Milspec features fixed spring bars, like the original, and a faux patina’d dial reminiscent of the aged vintage Milsub examples that we see today. With its iconic sword-shaped hour hand, and circled ‘T’ symbol at 6 o’clock to highlight the use of tritium luminous on the original (the Project X Milspec does not use tritium), the Project X Milspec is a wonderful blend of heritage-rich design and modern creature comforts. With its modern ref. 114060 stainless steel case, the Project X MIlspec features Rolex’s famed ‘Maxi-case’ design with its thick lugs and rugged case. In another bid to lie closer to the original, Project X have also swapped the Submariner’s Cerachrom bezel insert with an anodized aluminum insert with 60-minute markings just like what was used on the original Milsub ref. 5513. Practicing a total dedication to the fine details, this bezel insert even includes a vintage-toned lume pip, just as we see on surviving examples of this iconic timepiece. A total of 17 pieces + 2 AP editions were made of this Milspec 1 Submariner and they were offered directly to pricate clients and were not ever advertised for sale.

Watch is in excellent near-mint conditon. Light wear evident on brushed surfaces of the case. The bezel insert has very slight edge wear along the inner edge near the 51 minutes past area.

An interesting ode to one of Rolex's most elusive and historic Submariner variants, the Project X Milspec blends an iconic design with the creature comforts of a modern design to create a watch that is immaculate and entirely wearable as an everyday watch.
