Introduction
When Ralph Lauren launched his watchmaking division in 2009, few expected a fashion house to produce genuinely serious mechanical timepieces. Instead, Ralph Lauren partnered with some of Switzerland's finest manufacturers, sourcing movements from Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC, and Piaget to create watches that reflected the same timeless elegance found throughout his fashion collections. Rather than following trends, the brand focused on enduring design, impeccable proportions and understated luxury, earning a loyal following among collectors who appreciated refined dress watches.
Named after Ralph Lauren's iconic flagship boutique at 867 Madison Avenue in New York, the RL867 collection draws its inspiration from the historic Rhinelander Mansion, one of Manhattan's finest examples of Gilded Age architecture. Its Art Deco-inspired aesthetic is expressed through a perfectly balanced square case, a lacquered dial featuring a distinctive mix of Roman and Arabic numerals, elegant Breguet-style hands and an ultra-thin profile that recalls some of the finest dress watches of the twentieth century.
This example is crafted in 18K rose gold and powered by the ultra-thin manual-wind calibre RL430, based on Piaget's celebrated 430P movement. Measuring just 5.7mm thick, it combines exceptional wearability with refined mechanical pedigree, while its minimalist two-hand display reinforces the collection's quietly sophisticated character.

THE DIAL
Inspired by early twentieth-century Art Deco design, the white lacquered dial combines Roman and Arabic numerals within a pair of concentric square tracks, creating a distinctive architectural layout. Slim black Breguet-style hands complete an elegant display that perfectly reflects the timeless character of the RL867 collection.
THE CONSTRUCTION
The polished 18K rose gold square case is beautifully proportioned, combining elegant lines with exceptional thinness. At just 5.7mm thick, the RL867 slips effortlessly beneath a cuff while its gently curved profile and compact dimensions make it exceptionally comfortable on the wrist.

Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The 18K rose gold case shows surface scratches and scuffs. The case back has a more noticeable scratch while retaining well-defined engravings and hallmarks. The dial and hands are in near-mint condition. The crystal shows some surface scratches. It is fitted with a black Ralph Lauren leather strap and an 18K rose gold pin buckle showing surface scratches.

Our Perspective
The RL867 remains one of the most overlooked modern dress watches. Combining Ralph Lauren's impeccable eye for design with Piaget's celebrated ultra-thin movement, it offers genuine haute horlogerie credentials wrapped in an elegant Art Deco-inspired package. Beautifully proportioned and produced in relatively small numbers, the rose gold RL867 is an understated alternative to the traditional dress watches offered by the established Swiss maisons.
