Designing watches the likes of which have never been seen before, Ressence’s unique approach to watchmaking has created a design language that is traceable only to them. Characteristically unconventional, to put it lightly, Ressence utilizes spherical discs displaying the hours, minutes, seconds, and days that rotate through the displays of their timepieces to create an ever-evolving appearance for their watches. Released in 2014 and featuring a display system called the ‘Ressence Orbital Convex System’ that comprises of 27 gears and 40 jewels with painted engraved indications, the Type 1 is a true feat of craftsmanship and engineering that seems to have come from a sci-fi movie rather than an artisanal Swiss watchmaker. Offered as a slimmer version of the Type 1, the Type 1s (S standing for slim) that we have here, is a titanium variant of the Type 1 with an 11mm tall case as opposed to the 13mm cases on the Type 1. Launched in 2019, the Type 1s is a wonderfully wearable entrant into Ressence’s niche corner of watchmaking. Made of titanium and boasting a brilliant black dial that is ever-changing, this timepiece is both sleek on the wrist while also speaking to Ressence’s unique take on horology and the display of time itself.

The watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case has some light marks and scuffs. The case back has a number of scratches but retains very well-defined engravings. The dial and hands are near-mint. It is fitted with a black leather strap with a Ressence steel buckle in excellent condition. The watch comes with its inner and outer boxes, warranty, booklet, and spare strap.

A unique watch oozing with personality and a distinctive style that only Ressence have come to master, the Type 1s is a wonderful example of what a watchmaker can create when they venture beyond the conventions set by their industry.
