While Australia might not typically be associated with horology or watchmaking in general, that certainly hasn’t stopped Australian watchmaker Reuben Schoots from creating beautiful timepieces, even if he never received the same European training that so many of his peers have gotten. Offering a bold and contemporary take on classical aesthetics, the Series 1 features a stainless steel 42mm case with gentle lines and a distinctive shape that holds within it a beautiful silver dial with clear inspiration from great watchmakers like Breguet and Daniel. Featuring a concentrically brushed chapter ring with Roman numerals and a hand-flaked central surface that is rather unique, the Series 1 appears both familiar and new, an interesting balance that so few watches get quite right. Boasting a finely-finished manual-wind movement behind its exhibition caseback, the Series 1 shows a thoughtful approach to every facet of its design.
