Beginning his independent watchmaking journey like the highly-esteemed watchmakers that came before him, Roger Dubuis learnt his trade by working for several large Haute Horlogerie brands like Patek Philippe before embarking on his own endeavors. Founding his eponymous brand in 1995, Roger Dubuis timepieces have evolved into some of the best-regarded pieces of high-end independent horology the market has to offer. While the brand is no longer independent and has since broken away from their more traditional roots and embraced the hyper-technical designs we see them employ today, the brand still retains a charming place in the heart of many collectors with their early pre-Richemont takeover models standing as the most sought after. In that same vein, the Golden Square Perpetual Calendar that we have here was launched in 2006, two years before Richemont acquired the brand and so stands as one of the brand’s most beloved collections. Released as a limited edition collection with 28 numbered pieces in rose gold and another 28 in white gold, which is what we have here; this beautiful timepiece blends a truly complex automatic perpetual calendar movement with a beautiful silver dial, a lapis lazuli and gold moon phase, an interesting asymmetrical display and a unique square construction.
