A legendary figure in the arena of independent watchmaking, Roger Dubuis learned his trade by working for several large Haute Horlogerie brands like Patek Philippe before embarking on his own endeavors. Founding his eponymous brand in 1995, Roger Dubuis’ timepieces have evolved into some of the best-regarded pieces of early high-end independent horology the market has to offer. Released in the early 2000s, the Hommage Retrograde Perpetual Calendar ref. H37 collection was produced as a limited edition series with just 28 pieces, of which we have the first right here. While its 18k white gold case is certainly classically designed thanks to its round shape and gently sloped bezel, its dial is undeniably the star of the show. Featuring two mirroring retrograde indicators, this stunning white dial combines several types of hands with an intriguing typeface to create an aesthetic that is unique to Roger Dubuis’ spirit as an independent watchmaker.
