Roger Dubuis Hommage Monopoussoir Chronograph H40 Rose Gold

How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Beginning his independent watchmaking journey like the highly-esteemed watchmakers that came before him, Roger Dubuis learnt his trade by working for several large Haute Horlogerie brands like Patek Philippe before embarking on his own endeavours. Founding his eponymous brand in 1995, Roger Dubuis timepieces have evolved into some of the best-regarded pieces of high-end independent horology the market has to offer, and two-register chronograph models are the brand’s most sought-after early timepieces. The Hommage Chronograph ref. H40 (referring to its 40mm case diameter) was produced in a series of 28 pieces and is a sight to behold. While its 18ct rose gold case is certainly classically beautiful, its dial is arguably the star of the show. Featuring applied 18ct rose gold Breguet numerals, Feuille hands and a beautiful black dial with gilt-coloured inscriptions throughout, it pays successful hommage to the vintage chronographs of the past (as its name so suggests) while also displaying its own aesthetic flourishes as Roger Dubuis have become so well known for.

Condition

The overall condition of the watch is near-mint. Dial is perfect, with no signs of damage. The case is 'like new' with virtually no indication of usage, aside from a few extremely faint surface abrasions on the bezel. Watch retains the original strap and buckle.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, an alternative leather strap to the existing exotic skin version, shall be provided.

Our Perspective

A rare watch with only 28 examples produced, the Roger Dubuis Hommage Chronograph H40 is one of horology's best-kept secrets, with its heritage-inspired design harbouring a movement that packs a mighty horological punch. Only recently getting its due, this is one of the gems of the early 2000s.
