Introduction
A legendary figure in the arena of independent watchmaking, Roger Dubuis learned his trade by working for several large Haute Horlogerie brands like Patek Philippe before embarking on his own endeavors. Founding his eponymous brand in 1995, Roger Dubuis’ timepieces have evolved into some of the best-regarded pieces of early high-end independent horology the market has to offer. Released in the early 2000s, the Roger Dubuis Much More Bi-Retrograde Calendar ref. M34 is a wonderful example of Dubuis’ distinctive take on horological design. Featuring a 34mm wide 18kt rose gold rectangular case with short lugs and a thin bezel with a very small step along its periphery, the ref. M34’s construction is classical yet somewhat whimsical, much like its dial design. Featuring two retrograde displays, one for the day and one for the date, and a centrally-located moonphase subdial at 6 o’clock along with an eclectic blend of exploding Roman numerals, this timepiece’s design is a melody that could only be achieved by someone with the watchmaking credentials of Roger Dubuis. Limited to 28 units and individually numbered, this is as rare a timepiece as it is stunning.

Our Perspective
An interesting take on one of watchmaking's most practical complications, the Much More M34 communicates Roger Dubuis' love of creating aesthetically unique timepieces that are still refined, classical and entirely functional.
