Introduction
First released in 1945 in honor of the British RAF following their efforts in WWII, the Air-King has become one of the longest-serving members of Rolex’s catalog, with its official debut as a standalone collection, as we know it today, tracing its origins a little bit more recently to 1958. Since then, the collection has become one of Rolex’s most unique collections, with its design and construction often used as a means to push aesthetic boundaries and experiment with design in a way that few other collections within the Rolex family could. As such, the Air-King collection has been found to sport a vast expanse of dial colors and set-ups, with different bezel configurations and a large variety of sizes over the years, making it one of Rolex's most diverse collections.

THE DIAL
Fitted with the original silver dial that gives this Air-King an understated monochromatic aesthetic, this example's previous owner customized it with Ferrari's famously colourful logo at 6 o'clock, which, adds a bright punch of colour.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Boasting a stainless steel construction, a flat bezel, an Oyster bracelet and a silver dial, the Air-King's construction is quaint and restrained, albeit this example's custom Ferrari logo adds a fun burst of color.

Condition
Watch is in excellent overall condition. Case has sharp edges and clean surfaces, with only minor wear visible. A worn caseback sticker is still affixed to the caseback. Dial has a custom-printed Ferrari logo applied at 6 o'clock. It was not done by Rolex and is an aftermarket customization done by a previous owner. The watch comes on an oyster bracelet with 12 links total, 2 of which are removable. It currently fits a 7" wrist. There is an additional like included with the sale. The bracelet shows minimal stretch.

Combining a customized dial with the ref. 14000's famously understated aesthetic with its flat bezel, Oyster bracelet and silver dial, this example injects a fun and unique twist to one of Rolex's most restrained Air-King variants.
