Rolex Air-King Dominos 14000M

How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Rolex has been known to produce special editions for corporate customers up until the early 2000s, and this may just be the most famous of them all. Given to franchisees who had exceeded certain sales targets, these fun and cheerful watches have been coveted not only by Domino's franchisees, but collectors alike. The first models ever given as awards were the reference 5500 Air-Kings in the 1970s. Whilst Rolex is still the preferred choice for award watches at Domino's, the new iterations no longer feature the red, white and blue logos on the dials. The offered example has a Domino's emblem on the bracelet, and a caseback engraving signifying that it is a more recent production.

THE CONDITION

Razor-sharp case edges indicate that the watch has been carefully worn. The Domino's Pizza plaque affixed to the bracelet provides a whimsical detail, revealing its interesting back story.

THE LOGO

As well as a Domino's emblem on the bracelet, this 14000M also has an engraving on the caseback, which is unique to the more recent award watches.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

The overall condition of the watch is excellent. Dial is pristine, with no imperfections. The case and bracelet have minor surface abrasions consistent with light wear. Bracelet is tight with little to no stretch.

Our Perspective

An oddity in the Rolex pantheon, this specific piece is one of the later iterations of the fabled Domino's Air-King. If a blue and red pizza logo is too showy for your taste, this one is slightly more subtle in comparison to the earlier examples. Here, the logo is engraved on the caseback, and a small metal emblem is affixed to the bracelet.
