Stemming from Rolex’s acceptance of the idea that some of their customers would like to own a second watch, the Rolex Cellini collection is perhaps one of the brands most widely varied collections, with round leather strapped dress watches to oval shaped watches and tonneau-shaped pieces of distilled excellence like the ref. 4652 that we have here. Constructed from 18k yellow gold, this example features an integrated precious metal bracelet set upon a tonneau-shaped case that itself features a diamond-set octagonal bezel. Offered within the middle-ground between the pure dress watch aesthetic of the Cellini and Rolex’s own tool watch aesthetic, the ref. 4652 is a curious watch given its entirely unique design. Boasting a diamond-set bracelet and bezel while also featuring a simple dial, the ref. 4652 offers the best of both worlds as it showcases Rolex’s ability to create elegant pieces of horological jewellery, but also entirely legible timepieces that stick to the script with regards to fitting within Rolex’s offering. Fine, elegant and angular, this timepiece displays the best Rolex had to offer with regards to craftsmanship while also embracing new forms and has thus become a truly collectible timepiece from the Genevan Giants that collectors can’t seem to get enough of.

Watch is in near-mint condition, showing only minor signs of use. A few marks and scratches can be seen on the edges of the case, including 6 o'clock side of bezel and case. Original caseback sticker is still affixed. Bracelet has 25 links, 4 of which are removable. It appears almost like new and there is no stretch.

A gorgeous piece of unapologetically vivacious craftsmanship, the ref. 4652 is a wonderful example of just how beautiful a Rolex can be when they move away from their traditionally conservative DNA and embrace creativity and freedom.
