Introduction
Stemming from Rolex's eventual acceptance of the idea that some of their customers would like to own a second watch, the Rolex Cellini collection is perhaps one of the brand's most understated. A dress watch at heart, the Cellini departs from Rolex's typically rugged design cues and enters the world of soft sophistication. Combining precious metal constructions with leather straps and elegantly designed dials, the Cellini collection is the dress watch epitomized. In that same vein, the Rolex Cellini ref. 6623 that we have here is a more unique, but still understated, example of the Cellini collection. Embodying the collection;s ethos by refraining from bringing too much attention to itself, it excludes any sort of embellishments, such as complications, diamonds, or an intricate dial. Measuring 37mm in diameter and sporting a stepped bezel, a quartz cal. 6620 movement, and unique articulating lugs, this ref. 6623 distils the very essence of what a dress watch should be through traditional design elements that are intensely refined and classical with the exception of its lugs that offer an incredibly comfortable fit as the watch’s leather strap is allowed to perfectly conform to the wrist’s contours.

THE DIAL
Fitted with a champagne dial with applied Arabic indices, the ref. 6623's display is a monochromatic affair that appeals to the model's own aesthetic and Rolex' desire to create functional timepieces.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Featuring a large 37mm 18kt yellow gold construction, the ref. 6623 carries a significant wrist presence, but its articulating lugs provide a close wearing experience as the watch satisfyingly wraps around the wrist.

THE PROFILE
Powered by a quartz movement, the ref. 6623's profile is extremely thin and wears close to the wrist.
Condition
Watch is in overall very good condition. The yellow gold case shows surface scratches and some more noticeable nicks to the case sides. The case back retains still-legible hallmarks and partially legible model and reference numbers. The dial has a couple of light surface marks, while the hour hand shows some oxidation. The crystal has chips pointing towards the 53-minute marker from the center. It is fitted with a brown leather strap and a yellow gold deployant clasp, showing wear to the surface and scratches.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
Unique, understated, and still functional, the ref. 6623 puts an unusual spin on the Cellini collection while still maintaining its personality and style.
