Introduction
While they might be best-known for their impeccably-made tool watches and variety of luxurious dress watches, Rolex have a history of making other timepieces too, namely pocket watches like the Cellini ref. 3728 that we have here. Launched as part of the Cellini collection, which was itself a collection created to offer Rolex’s customers with a style of watch that Rolex had not offered, the ref. 3728 is an understated pocket watch that breaks away from Rolex’s typical design language. Thin with a clean silver dial and an interesting shape whereby its base is wider than its top, the ref. 3728 is a timepiece that challenges Rolex’s typical design language. Made of 18kt yellow gold that has accumulated a rich patina throughout, this example is as fine a ref. 3728 as you could ever hope to find.

THE DIAL
Boasting a silver dial that is free from clutter, the ref. 3728 is eternally elegant with just applied stick hour markers, baton hands and some simple inscriptions on its surface. Additionally, its indices have developed a unique patina that give a rich character to this example.

Just 6mm thin thanks to its manual-wind cal. 1600 movement, the ref. 3728 is an elegant pocket watch that so-often speaks to the stylistic choices of those who collect and wear pocket watches.

Condition
Pocket watch is in like new condition, with only minor wear from light handling. Caseback still bears original green and gold Rolex sticker. The dial in near-mint condition, with some oxidation visible on the indexes.

Challenging Rolex's better-known design language and typical offering, the ref. 3728 is filled with a unique sense of character that makes it all the more interesting.
