Introduction
Stemming from Rolex's eventual acceptance of the idea that some of their customers would like to own a second watch, the Rolex Cellini collection is perhaps one of the brand's most understated. A dress watch at heart, the Cellini departs from Rolex's typically rugged design cues and enters the world of soft sophistication. Combining precious metal constructions with leather straps and elegantly designed dials, the Cellini collection is the dress watch epitomized. In that same vein, the Rolex Cellini ref. 5112 that we have here is an intensely understated example of the Cellini collection, embodying its ethos as a watch that refrains from bringing too much attention to itself by excluding any sort of embellishments, such as complications, diamonds, textured surfaces, or an intricate dial. Instead, this example stands in the confidence of its own superiority as an exceptionally rare co-signed Rolex, with its white dial boasting the Saudi Arabian emblem at 12 o’clock, which marks its designation as a watch that was ordered by the Saudi Arabian royal family as a special order watch that was destined to either be worn by members of the royal family themselves or gifted to a foreign dignitary, a friend or someone that is particularly noteworthy for whatever reason the royal family saw fit. Measuring 32mm in diameter and sporting a thin bezel, a manual-wind movement, and small lugs, this ref. 5112 distills the very essence of what a dress watch should be, but with a secret that only those in the know will recognize the importance of.

Our Perspective
A sleek and discrete dress watch elevated by its subtle co-signed dial, this ref. 5112 highlights Rolex's close relationship with royalty through the decades, and the symbolism that Rolex watches had as the ultimate in horological luxury, which they have managed to maintain all these years later.
