Released to celebrate Rolex's 40th anniversary in 1945, the Rolex Datejust has become one of the Genevan Giant's most iconic watches. The world's first wristwatch to display the date via an aperture on the dial, the Datejust revolutionized wristwatch design for decades to follow. The watch is in overall excellent condition. The stainless steel case has some scratches and marks, with light endlink rub on the rear of the lugs. The case has been polished in the past. The yellow gold bezel is well-defined and has a pleasing age-related patina. The dial is excellent, with a couple of missing lume plots, while the red Khanjar emblem remains very crisp. The hands are later additions. The watch is fitted with a generic leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle.

Aesthetically muted thanks to its leather strap but then uplifted through its exceptionally rare Khanjar dagger emblem at 6 o'clock, this example embraces the duality of Rolex's design and the luxury they have come to communicate.
