Introduction
Introduced in 1945, the Rolex Datejust established a formula that has remained remarkably durable: an automatic Oyster watch combining everyday robustness with the practicality of a date display. Over successive generations, Rolex has continually refined that architecture while offering the Datejust in an extraordinary range of metals, dials and gem-set configurations. The modern 36mm generation retains the proportions most closely associated with the historic model while incorporating Rolex's contemporary movement and case technology.
The ref. 126284RBR takes that familiar format in a decidedly more precious direction. Its White Rolesor construction combines a stainless steel Oyster case and bracelet with an 18K white gold bezel set with diamonds, while the dial is fashioned from natural mother-of-pearl and fitted with diamond hour markers in 18K gold settings. Because the colour and structure of mother-of-pearl varies naturally across the shell, each dial has an individual appearance. Inside is Rolex's automatic calibre 3235, providing approximately 70 hours of power reserve and an independently quick-set date.

THE DIAL
The natural mother-of-pearl dial displays variations in colour and structure unique to the material, with Rolex preserving rather than artificially colouring its natural hues. Diamond hour markers are individually mounted in 18K gold settings, adding further depth and brilliance without obscuring the iridescent surface beneath.
THE CONSTRUCTION
The 36mm White Rolesor construction combines a stainless steel Oyster case with an 18K white gold bezel individually set with diamonds. It is paired with a stainless steel three-link Oyster bracelet, balancing the elaborate dial and bezel with the more functional appearance traditionally associated with Rolex's Oyster architecture.

Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The stainless steel case is well defined and shows surface scratches and small nicks throughout, particularly to the case sides. The case back shows light surface scratches. The 18K white gold bezel shows some small marks around the edge, while all diamonds and their settings are in near-mint condition. The mother-of-pearl dial and hands are like new. The Oyster bracelet shows surface scratches, particularly to the polished centre links. The clasp shows scratches and small nicks. The bracelet is fitted with 9 links, 3 of which are removable, and fits approximately a 6½” wrist.
Our Perspective
The ref. 126284RBR is an interesting expression of the Datejust because its underlying architecture remains resolutely practical despite the extensive use of precious materials. The 36mm Oyster case, Oyster bracelet and calibre 3235 provide the familiar foundation, while the diamond-set white gold bezel and naturally individual mother-of-pearl dial transform it into something considerably more decorative.
