THE DIAL
Fashioned from a polished piece of birch wood, this ref. 18039's dial sports a swirling pattern thanks to a naturally occurring deformity that impacted its growth, known as a burl. This pattern makes for a wonderfully unique and luxurious backdrop for the ref. 18039's 18kt white gold handset and indices, and makes each example unique.
THE CONSTRUCTION
This ref. 18039's 18kt white gold construction features all of the Day-Date's signature elements with its 36mm case, iconic Presidential bracelet and wonderful fluted bezel.

Condition
The watch is overall in very good condition. The white gold case has some scratches and light nicks, as expected of a watch of this vintage. The hallmarks on the backs of the upper lugs are well defined, while the lower one is slightly worn. The case back has some light scratches. The white gold fluted bezel shows wear in places and has light scratches. The dial is in good overall condition. The edges have started to peel in areas, and there are areas near the indexes and pinions where delamination and light cracking can be seen between the wood veneer and lacquer. The white gold hands are reasonably clean. The concealed-clasp President bracelet has moderate play between the links. The bracelet currently fits a 7" wrist and has 19 links, 2 of which are removable. Comes with inner and outer boxes, punched papers, document holder, and cleaning cloth.
