Introduction
Since its debut in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date has stood as the brand's ultimate expression of prestige. Exclusively crafted in precious metals and instantly recognizable by its day display and President bracelet, it has spent decades on the wrists of presidents, business leaders and cultural icons, becoming one of the most enduring symbols of success in watchmaking.
Produced in 1990, this double-quickset 18K white gold ref. 18239 offers an uncommon twist on the classic Day-Date aesthetic. Originally fitted with a silver dial, time has transformed it into a rich tropical brown, creating a unique appearance that could never be replicated intentionally. Combined with its crisp white gold case, fluted bezel and President bracelet, this naturally aged dial gives the watch an individuality that has become increasingly sought-after among collectors.

THE DIAL
Originally finished in silver, the dial has naturally developed a warm tropical brown hue over time. Highly prized by collectors, this organic transformation gives each tropical dial its own unique character while beautifully complementing the cool tones of the 18K white gold case.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Crafted entirely from 18K white gold, the ref. 18239 pairs Rolex's iconic fluted bezel with the unmistakable President bracelet. The monochromatic construction allows the richly aged tropical dial to become the focal point while preserving the Day-Date's timeless elegance.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The 18K white gold case shows surface scratches and small nicks. The hallmarks and stamps on the rear of the lugs remain crisp. The bezel is in very good condition, with a few more noticeable dings. The dial is excellent, with intact lume plots and a uniform galaxy-esque tropical toffee hue across the surface. It is fitted with a concealed-clasp President bracelet showing surface scratches and moderate play between the links. The bracelet is fitted with 20 links, 1 of which is removable, and fits approximately a 6¾” wrist.
Our Perspective
Among vintage and neo-vintage Rolex watches, naturally tropical dials continue to captivate collectors because no two examples age in exactly the same way. This ref. 18239 combines the enduring elegance of the white gold Day-Date with an unusually attractive tropical dial.
