Introduction
Debuting in 1967, with the specific aim of bolstering Rolex's dive watch offering, the Rolex Sea-Dweller built upon the industry-leading dive watch credentials that the Submariner had earned Rolex over the previous 14 years. Created specifically with professional divers in mind, Rolex collaborated with diving companies like COMEX to perfect the Sea-Dweller's design and ensure it would be the ultimate dive watch. Featuring the ingenious Helium-Escape Valve that Rolex had patented the same year, a hugely impressive water resistance, and a sizeable case design, the Sea-Dweller rightfully toppled the Submariner as Rolex's most hardcore dive watch. Today offered in a few separate styles such as two-tone or full gold, with various dials, and in two different case sizes (43mm and 44mm), the Sea-Dweller has taken a leaf from the rest of Rolex's offerings and merged its tool-watch focused design with tasteful aesthetics, to create one of the most sought-after and best-equipped dive watches that any diver might ever need. The "James Cameron" DeepSea was released in 2014, in commemoration of the director's solo dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. It features a gradient dial from blue to black, with the words DEEPSEA on the dial in green. Offered here we have the latest reference of the “James Cameron,” the ref. 126660, which comes powered by the automatic cal. 3235 movement and features a new wider bracelet that is 22mm across instead of 21mm like its predecessor, and thus better equipped to handle the ref. 126660’s 44mm diameter case.

THE DIAL
The gradient coloring of the dial is a nod to the ocean, and James Cameron's descent into the bottom of the Mariana Trench. The deep blue color represents the surface of the ocean, whereas the black illustrates the darkness as one descends further down.
THE CASEBACK
Sitting hidden beneath its hulking 44mm stainless steel case's caseback, this example features the Khanjar Dagger, the Sultanate Of Oman's emblem, signifying that it was commissioned to either become a piece of the Sultanate's collection, or to be gifted to a person of esteem such as a foreign dignitary, politician, or family friend.

Condition
Watch is in near-mint condition, with only minor signs of use. The engraved Khanjar on the caseback is covered with a plastic sticker. The bracelet has 11 links total, 4 of which are removable. It fits a 7 3/4" wrist. Watch comes with its original guarantee card, showing the watch was from Khimji Ramdas, the official retailer in Oman.

Taking an exceptionally robust construction and making it more stylish through its uniquely colored dial, the James Cameron has been a popular option for collectors since its initial debut in 2014. Combine that with this example's Khanjar dagger, and it is the perfect piece for a large-wristed collector.
