Introduction
An icon within the watchmaking industry, the Rolex Oyster is famed as the basis of nearly every sports model that Rolex has ever produced. With its screwdown crown and caseback, its Oyster case provided a rugged construction with impressive water resistance that was apt for the rough and tumble of daily life. Offered here we have a 1950s example of the Oyster ref. 6022. While typically offered as a stainless steel model, this variant sports an entirely 18kt yellow gold construction, with 18kt gold applied hour markers, a beautifully aged champagne dial and an intriucate, and rather rare, 'brick' bracelet. Powered by a chronometer rated manual wind movement, this example is a wonderful link to Rolex's puritan past and in the present example's condition, is ready to be enjoyed right away.

Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. Case is sharp and well defined, and the original "SUPER OYSTER" crown is still fitted on the watch. The eggshell dial is beautiful, with a little bit of radium burn in the ceter of the dial. The luminous plots are beautiful and fully intact. Original brick bracelet with "half coronet" clasp is in excellent condition with minimal stretch. It is very long and can be adjusted under the clasp.
Our Perspective
A wonderfully luxurious timepiece that is filled with history, the Oyster Perpetual ref. 6022 in its 18kt yellow gold form is a wonderful reminder of Rolex's longstanding heritage as one of watchmaking's premier watchmakers. This particular example is quite unique, with its chronometer certified movement- very unusual for manual wind calibers of this era, and making it a true gem.
