Rolex Precision 3660 Radium Dial

How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Best known today as a luxury watchmaker, Rolex has grown from their humble beginnings in 1905 to being perhaps the most renowned watchmaker in the world. While this reputation might have been borne on the back of their incredible sports watches, Rolex have always produced famously robust offerings that spread across several aesthetic codes, much like this ref. 3660 that we have here. Made of stainless steel it is of a decidedly 1930s aesthetic with its thin pointy lugs, rounded snap-on caseback and legible dial. Offered with blued steel hands and Arabic hour markers separated by dot indices, it retains the radium luminescent material that Rolex had to swap for tritium in the early 1960s. With its clean cream dial and quaint reserved aesthetic this timepiece is a beautiful description of early Rolex that will certainly bring plenty of joy to its next owner.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

Watch is in very good condition. Early steel case has some light pitting along the edges of the caseback and mid-case, numbers inside caseback are well preserved. The original radium dial is in very good condition, with dark tritium and a few light marks on the dial. The hands have a very light colored radium that may have been relumed/replaced at some point. Caseback has an egraving.

Our Perspective

Wonderfully preserved, this example is a beautiful example of what early Rolex timepieces were like with its round 34mm stainless steel case, blued steel dial furniture and snap-on caseback.
