Rolex Submariner Non-Date 124060 Ceramic Bezel

How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Debuting in 1953 and released to the public the following year, the Rolex Submariner has undoubtedly become one of the most iconic timepieces of all time thanks to its legendary status as Rolex's flagship dive watch. Used extensively by the British Royal Navy and professional diving operations like COMEX, the Submariner set the bar for all dive watches to follow. Featuring a genuinely timeless design that has remained relatively unchanged throughout its history, the Rolex has become the archetypal sports watch. With very few large-scale aesthetic upgrades made to it over the years except for timely advancements like introducing a date function to the collection in the late '60s, and its modern cerachrom bezels, the Submariner is seen as the prototypical dive watch thanks to its consistency. The Submariner has earned its status as a legendary watch, with it today remaining as one of the most sought-after timepieces around.

Released in 2020 to replace the outgoing Rolex Submariner ref. 114060, the ref. 124060 that we have here helped to introduce a number of new elements to the Submariner's pure and heritage-consistent "No-Date" collection. Additionally, the 40mm case design of its predecessor and 20mm lug-width have been widened to 41mm and 21mm, respectively, to give the ref. 124060 a wider poise on the wrist. Finally, the ref. 1204060's lugs have been slimmed down to give the watch a more elegant and refined look that moves away from its bulky square design from before. Furthermore, it has been given a new movement so as to step into Rolex’s latest watchmaking standards with its automatic cal. 3230 that now includes 70 hours of power reserve. Furthermore, its hands on its black Maxi-dial have been thickened so as to hold more lume and help with legibility, which points back to the Submariner’s roots as a functional tool watch.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

With its symmetrical time-only display, the Submariner ref. 124060 stays true to the collection's heritage as a utility-oriented dive watch where legibility underwater was Rolex's only concern.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

Upgraded to 41mm, the ref. 124060 marked a new era for the Submariner that moved away from the overtly robust design of its predecessor and featured a more elegant poise on the wrist.

Condition

Watch is in like-new condition, with some very light marks on the case. There are very light marks on the back of the case lugs due to bracelet removal. The bracelet currently fits an 8" wrist and has 11 links, including 2 half links, 3 of which are removable. Comes as a full set with box, papers, and Rolex pouch.

Our Perspective

A move to modernize the Submariner and give it more elegant proportions closer to those loved by collectors during Rolex's aluminum bezel days, the ref. 124060 is a stunningly beautiful watch that still perfectly stays on task as a tool watch.
