Introduction
Debuting in 1953 and released to the public the following year, the Rolex Submariner has undoubtedly become one of the most iconic timepieces of all time thanks to its legendary status as Rolex's flagship dive watch. Used extensively by the British Royal Navy and professional diving operations like COMEX, the Submariner set the bar for all dive watches to follow. Featuring a genuinely timeless design that has remained relatively unchanged throughout its history, the Rolex has become the archetypal sports watch. With very few large-scale aesthetic upgrades made to it over the years except for timely advancements like introducing a date function to the collection in the late '60s, and its modern cerachrom bezels, the Submariner is seen as the prototypical dive watch thanks to its consistency. The Submariner has earned its status as a legendary watch, with it today remaining as one of the most sought-after timepieces around.
Launched in 1990, the Rolex Submariner ref. 14060 is known as “the last of the best” due to its position as the last no-date Submariner to ever feature an aluminum bezel insert which is a major design details that remains rooted in vintage Rolex.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Featuring the Submariner's iconic stainless steel construction, this ref. 14060M boasts hollow end-links, a 'holes case', and hollow center links in its bracelet, which means it retains a strong vintage feel on the wrist.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

Condition
Overall the watch is in excellent condition. The case is well defined, but does have some scratches and light nicks on the case sides and lugs. The case back has a couple of scratches from opening. The bezel is well defined and the insert is excellent, with just a couple of marks. The dial and hands are near-mint, with just a little discoloration in the seconds hand lume. The watch is fitted with a solid link Oyster bracelet with light play between the links and some surface scratches. There is some damage on the clasp near the diver extension link due to heat, but it does not impact function. The bracelet currently fits a 7 1/4" wrist and has 12 links, 2 of which are removable.
Our Perspective
Sitting on the fence between modern and vintage Rolex, the ref. 14060 is a true transitional reference with its modern movement combining with its neo-vintage construction to create a timepiece that is firmly rooted in both eras.
