Introduction
A legendary timepiece with an unrivaled history, the Rolex Day-Date has earned its place as "The Ultimate Watch of Prestige" from its decades on the wrists of the world's most influential people. Released in 1956, the Day-Date quickly became synonymous with luxury, prestige, and exclusivity thanks to being the watch of choice for the world's athletes, visionaries, and world leaders alike. Only ever constructed of precious metals, the Day-Date's aesthetic is that of sheer elegance and grace. With its timeless style and inescapable impact on horology, the Day-Date stands as a vivid reminder of just how successful Rolex has been in realizing that very mission. This particular example features a spectacular stone 'Tiger's Eye' dial and is in spectacular condition. In the pantheon of Day-Date dial types, the Tiger's Eye dial stands as the king of stone dials. A semi-precious gemstone from the quartz family, Tiger Eye is famed for its array of golden hues and colors, and banded appearance thanks to its formation process. Like all stone dials, they can be fragile, and so, this example, in its spectacular condition, is a rare and wonderful beast. Like all gemstones, Tiger's Eye varies from piece to piece due to its subtle natural variations, and this piece, with its large central band of goldish brown, is wonderfully stunning and lends to the ref. 18038's already monochromatic golden construction.

Our Perspective
Famed for its chatoyance or "cat’s eye effect" in French, the Tiger's Eye dial adds a touch of understated luxury to the Day-Date's already luxurious construction in a wonderfully balanced manner thanks to its beautiful shimmering effect - not something you see every day.
