Launched as the brand’s second collaboration with French tattoo artist Xoil, the Romain Jerome Tattoo – DNA by Xoil is limited to just 25 pieces and remains true to RJ’s already-established framework as a watch that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Featuring a 44mm stainless steel case with a PVD-coated bezel, the Tattoo – DNA is an imposing watch on the wrist. Boasting a rather interesting dial, the Tattoo – DNA features tattoo needle-shaped hands, a white grand feu enamel northern hemisphere, and a completely openworked southern hemisphere, which allows the Tattoo – DNA to pay homage to some of horology’s most traditional of crafts – dial making and watchmaking itself. Of course, as a collaboration timepiece, the Tattoo – DNA also features a piece of Xoil’s work as a tattoo artist, and as such, its tan calfskin strap has been tattooed by the famed French artist. With no two straps the exact same, the Tattoo – DNA is unmistakable as one of Romain Jerome’s timepieces as it pushes the boundaries far beyond where the majority of watchmakers would dare venture.
