Introduction
While watchmaking is dominated by a handful of Goliath-like brands, there are some independent microbrands that operate like David and offer services that those larger brands just can’t quite offer, like bespoke creations that are individual to the wearer. Founded in 2015 with a simple idea, Sartory Billard set out to design and create timepieces that capture and express the unique history and personality of their customers by offering their clients the ability to customize almost every piece of their watch, so long as the watch was from their range of references. Offered here we have the SB05, a 38.5mm x 8.5mm manual-wind timepiece that is made of tantalum and features a stunning dial with a stunning ice blue guilloche center that allows light to bounce across the dial’s textures and colors in a truly mesmerizing fashion. Surrounding this ice blue section is a white chapter ring that houses black outline Eastern-Arabic numerals which adds a wonderful visual sense of intrigue to the piece.

Featuring an ice blue center and a white periphery that includes black outllined Eastern-Arabic numerals, this SB05's dial is a pure delight as it showcases how much Sartory Billard allows their customers to personalize their watch and make something unique, which this example certainly is.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Measuring a universally-appealing 38.5mm in diameter and just 8.5mm thick, the SB05's construction wears flat on the wrist making it incredibly comfortable, while its use of tantalum adds some considerable heft that feels similar to gold.
