Introduction
While they might be most notable for creating sturdy budget-friendly watches, Seiko have two sibling brands that exist only to punch up. The better-known Grand Seiko and the lesser-known Credor, whose tiny output allows them to create some of the finest watches on the market today in competition with brands like Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and so forth. Introduced in 1974 as a collection of precious metal models, Credor began its life rather differently to how we know it today. Branded as "Crêt D'Or", meaning "Golden Crest" in French, it wasn't until 1978 that the brand was spun off into its own collection of watches and renamed "Credor" - as we know it today. While there are plenty of great and well-known Credor models like the Eichi II, there also remains some lesser-known models that are off the beaten path, just like this GBBE999 that we have here. An understated yet intensely luxurious dress watch, the GBBE999 boasts a 33mm platinum case with subtle coin-edge finish along the periphery of its bezel that adds an interesting play on the textures across the construction. Featuring a stunning white dial with painted Arabic numerals and a gold-trimmed seconds subdial, the GBBE999’s display is refined and classical, much in keeping with its case and manual-wind cal. 6898 movement, which is on display behind an exhibition caseback.

Condition
Watch is in very good overall condition. The case has moderate surface wear, with scratches and marks visible along the bezel as well as lugs, with some of the most noteworthy marks along the lower left lug. Dial is near mint- the enamel like surface shows little to no signs of aging. Caseback engravings are all visible. Watch is fitted with a generic buckle. Watch comes with box, instruction booklet and additional Delugs strap.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
A luxurious dress watch that perfectly demonstrates the artisanal craftsmanship inherent within the Credor sub-brand, the GBBE999 is the perfect embodiment of luxury within watchmaking.
